March 17, 2005, Washington, D.C.: Wow! We FUPPPSTERS have a purr-fect reason to celebrate! California Superior Court Judge Richard Kramer ruled this week that the Golden State's marriage law discriminates on the basis of sex.

We at FUPPPS are thrilled. This means the judge recognizes that California's law violates the state's Constitution, and the basic right to marry the filly – or stallion – of choice! Of course, we are realists. We expect opponents to appeal the ruling.

However, no one can deny that the judge’s decision gives us a wonderful reason to mark a hydrant in honor of gay pride, and the rights of all to marry the object of their affection, be it he or she, gerbil or giraffe.

Dear Judge Kramer:

We at FUPPPS.com, representing the Federation of Unacknowledged Partnerships among Pooches, Pussycats and Sturgeons,™ salute you. By ruling that the outlawing of same sex marriage violates the California constitution, you have taken a very courageous stance in what can only be termed a war against civil liberties in our country.

Our millions of members worldwide are so pleased to have this vote of confidence. We have long known the joy that results when any critter is free to choose the partner with whom he/she wants to spend the rest of his/her days, dog or otherwise. Our organization was founded to urge our politicians to extend the right of a civil blessing to same sex NIPtuals, with all the legal benefits two-legged heterosexual wedlock confers.

We hope you will join us by extending your belief in this fundamental right for all to be free of government interference in the nest, and to be able to experience muttrimonial bliss, regardless of genus, gender or species.

Whatever your decision, we do applaud you. Nip, nip, hoorah!
